Green Living is taking responsibility for your part as a caretaker while you are here on this planet - Creating a Healthy Planet
Find information on organic farming and how what you eat, literally, can help save the planet. When you go shopping use the eco-based symbols to purchase from companies that are acting responsibly to create a healthy environment.
Purchase books and videos to educate yourself about how genetically engineered food, and, soon cloned food is in your grocery store, without your knowledge.
A few facts:
- Children fed organic food have fewer traces of chemical residue
- 10,000 medium-sized organic farms can store as much carbon in the soil as
we would save if we took one million cars off the road
- The typical American household wastes as much as $600 of food per year
- The livestock industry is responsible for nearly one-fifth of the planet’s
greenhouse gases - create meatless days for your family
- If the United States converted all corn and soy to organic production, we
would sequester enough carbon to meet nearly three-quarters of our Kyoto targets for carbon dioxide emissions reductions
Learn how organic farms can give us the boost we need to save our planet, from New Farm.org watch this slide show.

Fred Krupp, President of the Environmental
Defense Fund and journalist Miriam Horn
have just published this fascinating book.
The book tells the story of scientists and
businessmen working on the front lines to
solve the climate crisis, turning our planet's
greatest threat into our greatest economic
opportunity.
The book also explores breakthroughs in
solar, wind, and biomass technologies, in
addition to examining how we must
reinvent everything from cars to concrete
and replace our current outdated
centralized electrical grid with a smart,
multidirectional energy network.
Informative documentary about our food
supply. Includes information about the
Genetically Modified food industry, and
farmers who try to resist GMO and get
sued by corporations.
Shows the destructive nature of
GMO/chemical farming on both the
farmers and the soil.
A different DVD which also shows the
destructive nature of GMO / chemical
farming on both the farmers and the
soil, ...and shows an active solution
taking place in India.
Lots of beautiful shots of kids and
people caring for their fields. Seeing
how farmers are reviving their land,
health and spirits through mindful
farming was inspiring.
Watch "The Future of Food" first, and
then the enlightening "How to Save the
World", for a incredible real world
solution that is happening now. Both are
entertaining and can educate you on
what is really happening to food and
farmers in the USA and other countries!
Anyone interested in the organic food
movement, and how Monsanto and
other agribusiness firms have been
harming the earth with their
unsustainable "green revolution" will
appreciate these wonderful DVDs.

We are the caretakers of this amazing planet.
When we live responsibly, connected with the Earth, it lovingly gives us all that we need.

Much of our food is now genetically
engineered (GMO-genetically modified

because there is no labeling.

From Publishers Weekly
Starred Review: Challenging the
prevailing wisdom that the goal of
economies should be unlimited growth,
McKibben (The End of Nature) argues
that the world doesn't have enough
natural resources to sustain endless
economic expansion.
He suggests we need to explore new
economic ideas. We should concentrate
on creating localized economies:
community-scale power systems instead
of huge centralized power plants; co-
housing communities instead of sprawling
suburbs. He gives examples of promising
ventures of this type, such as a
community-supported farm in Vermont
and a community biosphere reserve, or
large national park–like area, in
Himalayan India, but some of the ideas.
This book was exciting and helped me
develop an understanding of what buying
locally really means. It's an easy,
interesting read. - Tana
